Single or Double DIN?... That is the question!

We get a lot of customers asking us exactly what a single DIN and/or a double DIN is, so this page is here to help you understand what you currently have in your Audi so you can work out how much a sat nav is going to cost to install.

This whole single or double DIN issue only concerns Audi A3 & A4 vehicles. The table below is pretty self explanatory, however, if you have any questions, please check out our FAQ's page or contact us via email or phone.

Please note, single DIN installations will cost more due to the extra parts & increased labour time involved in converting to double DIN before the actual sat nav can be installed.

How to identify an Audi A3 single DIN radio/cd:

  • There is a cupholder above the radio/cd
  • The hazard switch, ESP button etc are above the radio unit.

How to identify an Audi A3 double DIN radio/cd:

  • You do not have a cupholder but instead have a coin/card tray below the radio/cd
  • The hazard switch and ESP buttons are below the radio unit.

How to identify an Audi A4 single DIN radio/cd:

  • There is a storage area below the climate control unit
  • There is a chrome/silver strip along the TOP of the radio/cd.

How to identify an Audi A4 double DIN radio/cd:

  • There is quite literally no storage area below the climate control unit
  • There is a chrome/silver strip along the BOTTOM of the radio/cd.
